Pirates Recall Southorn

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled defenseman Jordon Southorn from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Southorn, a 6-foot-3, 200 pound native of Montreal, Quebec, started the 2014-15 season with Portland, playing in two games and collecting two penalty minutes.

He was reassigned to Gwinnett on October 27. He has played five games with the Gladiators, notching two goals, three assists, and five points with a plus-3 rating.

In his fifth pro season, Southorn was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the 4th Round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has played the majority of his career in the ECHL with Gwinnett, Fort Wayne, Elmira, Wheeling, and Trenton. The 24 year-old has played a total of five AHL games in his career, three with Portland (one in 2013-14) and two with the Providence Bruins in 2011-12.

He will rejoin the Pirates ahead of their two-game weekend series at the Cross Insurance Arena against the Albany Devils, which starts tomorrow.
