Massachusetts Pirates offensive lineman Olmarquis Lucas

WORCESTER, MA - The Massachusetts Pirates have re-signed offensive lineman Marquis Lucas for the 2022 season. Lucas was a force on the offensive line for the Champions of the Indoor Football League last season. With Lucas protecting the quarterback and opening holes for the running game, the Pirates were third in scoring, averaging 43.8 points per game. Massachusetts was also second in passing yards with 2.262, third in the IFL with 3,358 total yards, and third with 98 touchdowns. The offensive line allowed less than one sack per game.
Prior to helping the Pirates to the title, the 6'4", 315 lb. native of Miami, FL played in the XFL for the Tampa Bay Vipers in 2020 making two starts in five games. Lucas also played in five games for the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football in 2019.
Lucas played his college ball at the University of West Virginia, spending five seasons in Morgantown beginning as a redshirt freshman in 2011. In his career as a Mountaineer he appeared in 36 games making 30 starts. In 2016 he took part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Lucas' professional journey began with the Buffalo Bills in April of 2016 when he signed as an undrafted free agent. Following the Bills' training camp, he later signed that same year with the Minnesota Vikings, joining their practice squad.
In 2017 Lucas signed with the Atlanta Falcons and ultimately landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
