February 27, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release
Lewiston, ME-The Pirates will look to put a four-game losing streak behind them when they host the Worcester Sharks Thursday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. Puck drop is set for 7 pm for the ninth meeting between the two teams this year. The Sharks hold a 5-3 edge in the season series. Tonight's game was originally scheduled for February 28th, but was moved due to a conflict.
The Pirates dropped a 4-3 decision to the Hartford Wolf Pack Tuesday night after letting a three-goal lead slip away. Lucas Lessio, Andy Miele and Rostislav Klesla all scored for the Pirates while Louis Domingue made 22 saves in defeat. The loss was the 4th straight for the Pirates.
The Sharks last played Sunday when they lost to the Manchester Monarchs 4-2. Dan DaSilva and Brodie Reid each scored for the Sharks while Troy Grosenick made 15 saves. The Sharks enter Thursday's game winless in their last six games, being outscored 29-6 in those contests.
The Pirates and Sharks last saw each other on January 21st, with the Sharks coming out on top by a 6-3 score at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. Dan DaSilva scored a hat trick in that game while Louis Domingue made 41 saves in the defeat. Lucas Lessio, Brandon Yip and Brandon Gormley all scored for the Pirates with Lessio finishing the night with three points.
KeyBank Key to the Game
Pesky Pirates: The Pirates must play a full 60 minute game tonight and keep the pressure on the Sharks throughout the game. Pressure along the boards by the Pirates' checking line as well as a "pesky" style of play that draws penalties from the Sharks will go a long way towards breaking the streak.
Tonight is Chris Brown Bobblehead night, presented by Bath Savings Institution. The first 1500 fans through the door will receive a Chris Brown Bobblehead, the first of two bobbleheads in this year's series. For more information, click here .
Tonight's game can be heard on the Pirates flagship stations WPEI 95.5/95.9 FM as well as WEZR FM 105.5/AM 1240 in the Lewiston/Auburn area and WTME AM 780/1450 in Oxford County.
