
Pirates Double Admirals for Third Straight Win

Portland, Maine - Matt Generous and Drew Schiestel scored their first career goals to lead the Portland Pirates to a 4-2 win over the Norfolk Admirals in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,819 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Felix Schutz, with his first of the season, and Cody McCormick also scored for the Pirates, who posted their third straight win to improve to 9-10-2-0 on the season. The Pirates completed a stretch of seven games in 11 days capturing 10 of a possible 14 points.
Justin Keller and Mitch Fritz scored for the Admirals, who dropped to 10-10-1-0 with the loss.
The two teams were tied at one after one. Generous and Schiestel scored within 42 seconds of one another to lift the Pirates into a 3-1 lead early in the second. Frtiz struck before the end of the second to make it a one-goal game heading into the third. It remained that way until McCormick hit the empty net with 62 seconds left in regulation. The Admirals out shot the Pirates 25-23 in the game as JP Lamoureux posted the win. The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the Game were 1. Schutz; 2. Schiestel and 3. Generous.
The Pirates return to action with four straight on the road beginning Friday in Hartford at 7 p.m.
