Pioneers to Face Wildcats

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers will face the South Georgia Wildcats on Saturday, June 25th at 7:30 PM in the Albany Civic Center in Albany, GA. Both teams suffered losses in week 12 action.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers faced the Macon Knights this past Saturday in Macon. The Pioneers ended the contest on the losing side of a 53-41 final score. Pioneers' quarterback Bryan Snyder went 18 for 31 with two interceptions, five touchdowns and a total of 217 yards. Wide receiver/linebacker Rocco Forgione had seven catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns while Thomie Venisee grabbed five passes for 82 yards and three touchdowns. Defensive Specialists Jamie Hattley and Ronnie Kaymore had 7.5 and 6.5 tackles on the night, respectively.

The South Georgia Wildcats are in the midst of a five game losing streak, the latest coming from the Arkansas Twisters, 59-28. The Twisters took an early lead in the game and never looked back. The Wildcats came within four points nearing halftime. In the second half, the Wildcats never came closer than 11 points and finally lost by 31 points.

Pioneers' statistic leaders include quarterback Bryan Snyder who is 4th in Passing Yards per Catch. Kicker David Davis is 5th in PAT Kicks Made. Defensive specialist Jamie Hattley is 3rd in Tackles with 74.5 and 5th in Passes Defended. Linemen Chris Ekwueme, Jim Sodano and Demetrius Austrum are among league leaders in sacks. Ekwueme is also among leaders in Tackles for Loss as well.

All Pioneer away games are broadcasted live thanks to WILK 980. Fans can tune their radios to 910AM in Scranton, 980AM in Wilkes-Barre or 1300AM in Hazleton.

The Pioneers will not be returning home until July 23rd where they will host the Albany Conquest. Ticket for the Pioneers are on sale now.
