Singfield Named Defensive Player of the Week

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 have been re-assigned QB Michael Wall by the league office. Wall was the Xplorers quarterback during the second half of the 2004 season.

Wall played in seven games with Memphis in 2004, with a 6-1 overall record in the regular season. He completed 115 passed for 1,697 yards and 36 touchdowns.

"Michael Wall was great for us last season," said Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "He was a big factor in our playoff drive, and he really helped Brian Jones develop into the player he is now."

Last Saturday in the win against the Birmingham Steeldogs, Jones left the game in the third quarter with an M-C-L sprain. The injury will sideline Jones for this Friday's game against at Oklahoma City.

"Brian is having a MVP type season for us," said Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "We are lucky to get Michael for one game, but Brian is still our guy this year, and we hope he has a full and speedy recovery."

The af2 has a league wide bye week during the July 4th holiday weekend, which gives Jones two weeks of rest before the Tulsa Talons come into town. In other news, DS Dahnel Singfield earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Week in the af2. He had two interceptions and ten pass deflections against the Steeldogs on Saturday.

Game time Friday night is 7:35. All Xplorers games can be heard on SportsRadio WMC The Mighty 790 AM. Tickets for the July 9th home game start as low as $7 and can be purchased by calling 662-342-1755, visiting the DeSoto Civic Center box office, or by logging onto www.TicketMaster.com today!
