Player News: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have been assigned former Wyoming Seminary and Bucknell University lineman Jon Churchill by the arenafootball2 league office. The 300-pound plus Churchill, who played at Bucknell through the 2001 season, will compete for one of the team's 21 available regular season roster spots. Churchill was selected First-Team All-Patriot League as a senior. He has the distinction of appearing in every Bucknell game from 1999 through 2001. Before attending Bucknell, he spent one season at Wyoming Seminary after a standout career at Fayetteville-Manlius High School.

This Just In: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have been assigned three additional players to their 2003 training camp roster by the af2 league office. Offensive/defensive lineman Markevius Woods and receiver/defensive back Harry Brunson, both of whom played for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2002, will return for the upcoming season. The Pioneers were also assigned defensive specialist Kyle Grove. Grove, who played collegiate ball at Norfolk State, was selected by Barcelona in the 2003 NFL Europe free agent draft.

Launching Future Stars: Not only is the Pioneers a great launch pad for football players, but the team also supports music talent as well. Former Pioneers National Anthem Singer Denise Hudson is going to be testing her skills TONIGHT on Star Search (CBS 8PM). Please support this local talent by watching and voting for her during her national debut. We'll be seeing Denise back here for a game or two during our 2003 season (if, that is, Hollywood doesn't steal her away from NEPA first). Good Luck Denise! The Pioneers are also working with local band UUU on multiple Pioneers themed songs to air during the Pioneers 2003 marketing campaign and throughout the season. UUU will return as a guest band for future Pioneers Fan Fest dates.

AFL on NBC: The third week of AFL games on NBC was the most highly ranked AFL weekend yet. AFL tallied a 2.3 overall ranking (.1 over weeks one and two). This Sunday regional fans can check out the Dallas Desperados at Detroit Fury game on WBRE TV-28 at 3PM.

UPCOMING APPEARANCES: You can catch Crockett this weekend at the Wyoming Valley Mall location Grotto Pizza from 1-2PM. The Weekender Birthday bash was postponed due to the NEPA whiteout last Sunday, the new party is this Sunday, February 23, 2003. Meet Amanda, Ivelise and other members of the dance team at the Woodlands 8PM.

Merchandise News: Replica jerseys are now 20% off on-line. This sale ends February 28th. Check out the Pioneers on-line store for information (www.wbspioneers.com ). You can order on-line and pick up your items at our front office or have your order shipped to you direct.
