Alabama Steeldogs News Release
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham Steeldogs Head Coach Bobby Humphrey has announced that the Birmingham Steeldogs have been assigned former UAB Blazers tight end Undrae Crosby, 6'5", 280 and former Kansas Jayhawks cornerback Quincy Roe, 5'9", 185.
Crosby, a four-year letterman for UAB, appeared in 39 games hauling in 24 catches for 249 yards and a touchdown. During his senior season (2000), Crosby set a new UAB single-season mark for catches by a tight end and his 24 career catches is second on the UAB all-time list for receptions by a tight end. Crosby participated in the 2000 Blue-Gray All-Star Classic on Christmas Day in Montgomery.
Roe, a three-year starter at defensive back for the University of Kansas, recorded an interception versus Baylor in his first start as a redshirt freshman in 1998. As a junior in 2000, Roe led the Jayhawks with three interceptions and 14 pass breakups. Roe appeared in 43 games, making 30 starts and finished with 82 tackles, 59 solo tackles, five interceptions, and 21 pass breakups.
"Although these two individuals do not have any arena football experience, Undrae and Quincy have a lot of actual game experience at the Division I-A level," said Steeldogs Head Coach Bobby Humphrey. "We've added a great blocker with the ability to catch the ball in Undrae. Quincy ran track while at Kansas and has clocked a 4.3/40 time, which will be a tremendous advantage in our defensive secondary.
The Steeldogs will begin their fourth season in Birmingham beginning with their home opener versus Cincinnati on Friday, April 4th. Season Tickets for the 2003 season are available for more information contact the Steeldogs Ticket Office at 458-8833.
