
Pioneers Assigned Former Dragon

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce that Ufuoma Pela has been assigned to their roster for the duration of the 2005 season. Pela has been playing with the New York Dragons in the AFL for the past few months.
"Its great to have Foam back with us this season," said Coach Les Moss. "He is a good player with great knowledge of the game. He will have a great impact with the team this season."
Pela was an integral part of the Pioneers' line during the 2004 season. In 15 games, Pela had 22 tackles (13 unassisted), eight tackles were for a loss of 29 yards, 3.5 sacks for a loss of 20 yards, five QB hurries, one pass deflected and one forced fumble.
Prior to playing for the Pioneers in 2004, Pela spent three seasons with the now defunct Charleston Swamp Foxes. While in Charleston, Pela played in 31 games racking up 53 tackles (25 unassisted), ten tackles were for a loss of 32 yards, eight sacks for 47 yards, 26 QB hurries, one interception, nine passes deflected and three forced fumbles with two recoveries.
Pela played collegiate football at the University of Maine. He is from Cherry Hill, NJ where he attended and played football for Cherry Hill High School East.
