Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - On Friday night, the Lewiston MAINEiacs played their annual "Pink in the Rink" game, and certainly left their fans with a game to remember. Etienne Brodeur took just 35 seconds to put the MAINEiacs ahead, and the home team didn't let up, finding the back of the net seven times in a 7-2 win over the Victoriaville Tigres in front of 2,208 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Brodeur's goal came on a 2-on-1 rush that was created by Jess Tanguy. Tanguy curled, dragged, and looked to shoot, before passing to Brodeur for an easy goal from the side of the crease. Midway through the first period, Lewiston added to the lead, when Antoine Houde-Caron finished off a shorthanded rush with Brodeur. Five minutes later, the power play did the trick, as Olivier Dame-Malka scored from Sam Carrier and Jess Tanguy.

In the second period, the MAINEiacs kept the offense going. Less than three minutes in, Olivier Dame-Malka buried his second tally of the night, clobbering a slap shot through the legs of David Honzik. Jess Tanguy, Sam Henley, and Sam Carrier also scored in the middle frame for Lewiston, who took a 7-1 lead into the dressing room.

Vincent Marcoux scored a power play goal in the third period for Victoriaville, who also got a goal from Phillip Danault. However, those goals weren't enough for the Tigres, as the MAINEiacs cruised to the 7-2 victory.

Nicholas Champion picked up the win in goal for Lewiston, stopping 16 of the 18 shots he faced. David Honzik suffered the loss for Victoriaville, allowing five goals on 18 shots, before being pulled midway through the second period. Antonio Mastropietro made 11 saves on 13 shots in relief.

The MAINEiacs and Tigres will play again on Sunday at 4:00 in Lewiston.
