Pineda extends scoring streak as Barracudas fall

Monterrey, Mexico - RGV defender Ismael Pineda extended his team leading scoring streak to four but it was not enough as the RGV Barracudas fell on the road to Monterrey Flash by a final score of 9-2 on Sunday evening at Arena Monterrey.

Monterrey got the first goal of the match when Erick Flores scored at 6:09 mark scored off an Edgar Flores pass to make it a 1-0 in the first quarter.

During the second quarter, Monterrey increased its lead to 4-0 when Omar Santillan, Edgar Gonzalez, and Armando Teran all got on the scoring action. The Barracudas (0-3) responded with a goal their own when Antonio Manfut found Moises Gonzalez to make it a 4-1 game at the break.

The Flash scored three more goals during the third quarter to put the game out of reach when Erick Flores scored his second of the night and Edgar Flores scored twice to make it a 7-1 game.

Edgar Flores scored his third goal of the night in the fourth quarter to push the Flash lead to 8-1. The Barracudas scored a consolation goal by Ismael Pineda which leads the team at four goals. That score made it an 8-2 game. Monterrey (2-0) would score one more time via an Efrain Martinez goal to make it a 9-2 final.

RGV goalie Arnoldo Pruneda took the loss for the Barracudas and his record is 0-1, while Flash goalie Diego Reynoso takes his record to 2-0.
