Pineda and Meregildo Homer in Sens 4-3 Loss

The Harrisburg Senators dropped a 4-3 game to the Akron RubberDucks Saturday night at Canal Park in Akron. Akron had a 3-0 lead into the seventh inning when Israel Pineda and Omar Meregildo hit back-to-back home runs on back-to-back pitches. The Senators tied the game in the eighth on a single by Wilson Garcia driving in Jack Dunn. Akron though tallied a run in the eighth and hung on to beat the Sens.

Jake Irvin started and went five innings for the Sens. He retired nine of the first ten batters he faced. In the fourth, he allowed three runs on four hits. He bounced back with a solid fifth inning. Alberto Guerrero and Edgar Garcia both pitched scoreless innings. Francys Peguero was tagged for the loss even though the run he allowed in the eighth inning was unearned.

The home run by Pineda was his third with the Sens for Meregildo it was his second. Garcia's hit in the eighth to drive in Dunn was on the first pitch he saw. Dunn singled leading off the inning and stole second to put himself in scoring position. Harrisburg had just five hits in the game.

Harrisburg committed two errors for the second time in as many games. The back-to-back home runs was the second time this season the Sens have gone back-to-back. Harrisburg has hit nine home runs in the first five games of the series.
