Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today that Kevin Pincavitch will return to the club for the 2003 season as pitching coach, but this year, the right-hander will also take the mound for the Jacks.

Pincavitch, originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Los Angles Dodgers out of California University of Pennsylvania, has spent the past five years in the Northeast League, first as a member of the New Jersey Jackals, following his time spent in the Dodgers organization and then with the Adirondack Lumberjacks last season. "Pinky" was a member of both the 1998 and 2001 Championship Jackals teams. The right-hander's best season in the league came in 1999, when Kevin went 10-5 with a 3.33 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched, and in turn represented the Jackals at the Northern League All-Star Game that year.

"We are excited to have Kevin back as part of the Lumberjacks. He did a great job with the pitching staff last year. Kevin is a great competitor and we expect great things from him on the mound this season," states Jacks General Manager, Curt Jacey.

Pincavitch has logged 1,027 career innings on the mound compiling a 66-54 career record with a 3.62 ERA and 913 strikeouts.

The Lumberjacks open the 2003 campaign on the road against the Allentown (PA) Ambassadors on Thursday, May 22, but return to Bangor for the home opener on Friday, May 30 at 7 PM against the New Jersey Jackals at Mahaney Diamond.
