EDENTON, N.C. - The Peninsula Pilots suffered their third straight loss as they fell in a rain-shortened 10-5 ballgame to the Edenton Steamers on Friday night at Historic Hicks Field.

After picking up two straight victories to start the second half, the Pilots have dropped three straight. Edenton picked up its third straight victory and moves to 4-1 in the second half after finishing under .500 in the first half.

Edenton put up three runs on the scoreboard in the first inning on a three-run home run by Aaron Aucker (Middle Tennessee State). Richard Cunningham (Baylor) reached on a walk and Trey Hair (Evansville) doubled to put two Steamers in scoring position setting up Aucker's blast to center field for a 3-0 lead three batters into the lineup.

Thatcher Coleman (Presbyterian) added a run for the Steamers with a solo home run in the second.

Peninsula reached the scoreboard in the third inning as Hunter Taylor (South Carolina) singled and All-Star Kurt Sinnen (Old Dominion) hit a two-run home run to right field to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Edenton wasted no time in answering as Tony Rosselli (Indiana State) and Bobby Schuman (CSU-Northridge) hit back-to-back two-out home runs to put the Steamers ahead 6-2 after three innings.

The Pilots continued the scoring affair with a solo home run by Logan Augustine (Lincoln Memorial) to lead off the fourth inning. Later in the inning, Nick Walker (Old Dominion) walked and moved to second on another base hit by Taylor. Evan Fernandez (Jacksonville) reached on a bunt single and a throwing error by the Steamers' third baseman allowed Walker to score to cut the score to 6-4.

After holding the Steamers scoreless in the fourth inning, the Pilots tacked on another run in the fifth with a RBI double by Walker to score All-Star Kyle McPherson (James Madison).

The Steamers broke the game open in the bottom half of the fifth with four runs to score in double-digits. Back to back singles by Hair and Aucker set up an RBI double by Rosselli. Stefan Van Horn (Washington State) added another RBI double before Coleman capped the scoring with his second home run of the game, this time a two-run home run to left-center.

The game was called in the sixth inning as severe weather came in the area and delayed the game for more than two and a half hours.

The Pilots return home on Saturday night to face the Wilson Tobs for Strikeout Cancer Night before breaking for the All-Star Break.
