Pickard suspended 3 games
January 26, 2016 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
Boucherville - The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended Campbell Pickard of the Moncton Wildcats for 3 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on January 22nd against the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Here is the rationale that led to the decision: * The opponent was in control of the puck near the opposing blue line, to the left of Moncton's goaltender. * He deked a Moncton player and then made a pass to a teammate on the other side of the ice. * Then the player at fault came to check him and made knee-to-knee contact. * The player at fault had speed and hit the opponent with his knee in full extension. * The opponent did not see it coming because he was looking at the pass he had just made. * As he was moving to the right, the player at fault slightly changed the trajectory of his left leg to not be deked. * This is the first offense for the player at fault.
The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
