Phoenix Rising FC News Release

(PHOENIX) - Phoenix Rising FC got back into the win column thanks to club leading-scorer Chris Cortez in a 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC 2 in front of a club record 7,381 fans.

Cortez's goal came ten minutes into the second half. After winning a 50/50 ball about 45 yards from the box, Cortez ran toward the goal. S2's goalkeeper came out to try and cut off Cortez but the forward chipped the ball up and over the goalkeeper and into the net for his 10th goal of the season and a 1-0 lead. (GOAL HIGHLIGHT)

The club held on to the lead for the rest of the half, not giving up any real dangerous chances to Seattle in the second half. The win vaults Phoenix Rising back into second place in the conference, just three points behind Western Conference leader Real Monarchs.

Phoenix Rising's next match will be a showdown with the Monarchs in Utah. That match will kickoff at 7 p.m. The team will hold official watch parties at Valle Luna (2922 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale) and Pig & Pickle (2922 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale).
