Philadelphia Wings Tough Guy Geoff Snider Selected to Start 2009 NLL All-Star G

Philadelphia Wings transition player Geoff Snider was chosen as part of the starting lineup for the 2009 NLL East Division All-Star Team. Snider has represented the Wings as an All-Star in each of his three seasons in the NLL. Snider, who leads the league in face-off winning percentage, will travel to Denver for the prestigious game at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, March 7 starting at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the entire weekend on the NLL Network starting Friday, March 6 at 10 p.m. ET for the NLL Skills Competition. The East and West Division All-Stars will then do battle on Saturday, March 7 starting at 9 p.m. ET.

"It's an ‘honour' and privilege to be recognized by the NLL General Managers, media, and loyal fans to represent the city of Philadelphia and the Wings organization at the 2009 NLL All-Star Game in Denver," said Snider who will make his second career NLL start and third appearance overall. "I'm thrilled to get back to the city where I spent my college career, and I can't wait to play in front of the Denver crowd and in one of the greatest sports city's in the world."

Snider will be joined in the East Division starting lineup by forwards, Dan Dawson (Boston Blazers), Casey Powell (New York Titans), Mark Steenhuis (Buffalo Bandits); defender Chris White (Buffalo Bandits); and goaltender Ken Montour (Buffalo Bandits). The starters were determined by a combination of votes by the fans, team General Managers/Head Coaches, and league media. The reserves for the Eastern and Western teams will be announced later this week.

Snider currently leads the NLL in faceoff winning percentage (.726) and is second in total face-offs won (117 of 161). The third year player is also second in the league in loose balls with 112 and has 18 points (4G 14A) in seven games played. Snider is also know for his ability to change the momentum of a game through is physical play and ability to fight larger players. The Wings will play their next game on Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. when they take on the Minnesota Swarm at the Wachovia Center.
