Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) dropped their fourth of the year and second on the road by falling to the Toronto Rock 20-10 at the Air Canada Centre on Friday night. Philadelphia's two-game winning streak was snapped. Toronto had four different players record at least three goals.

The first quarter began at a snail's pace for both teams. Shots were exchanged, but none were finding the back of the net. Philadelphia struck first with a goal by veteran forward Tracey Kelusky. Toronto answered back with three straight goals and carried a 3-1 lead into the second period.

Quarter two was an up-tempo flurry of goals. 12 goals in total were scored between Philadelphia and Toronto. The Wings fell on the short end of this scoring barrage by only notching four. Toronto built an 11-5 lead heading into the second half. Forwards Colin Doyle and Garrett Billings tallied first half hat tricks for the Rock.

Toronto emerged with the same intensity for the second half. The Rock outscored the Wings 9-5. Toronto won each quarter in the category of goals scored. Philadelphia only had one lead during the whole game coming at the very beginning.

Positives for the Wings included multi-goal games by Forwards Kevin Crowley and Tracey Kelusky. Crowley recorded his first hat trick of the season.

Toronto swept the stars of the game awarded to the top three performers. Garrett Billings climbed to the top of the leader board in points by tallying six goals and six assists (12 points total, 44 on the season). Billings earned the first star of the game. Teammates Stephan Leblanc (four goals, two assists) and Colin Doyle (three goals, four assists) earned the second and third stars, respectively.

The Wings return home to host the undefeated Edmonton Rush at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. Philadelphia will try to hand the Rush their first loss of the 2014 campaign. The Wings will honor former player and second all-time leading scorer Jake Bergey by retiring his No. 66 jersey prior to the start of the Wings vs. Edmonton Rush game.

Tickets for all Wings 2014 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
