Philadelphia Wings Meet Familiar Faces against Rochester
February 6, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings return to action after a bye week, looking to get back on the winning track against the Rochester Knighthawks in the team's first ever "Lacrosse in Education" game at Wells Fargo Center on Friday, February 8 at 11 a.m.
When they face off against the Knighthawks on Friday, the Wings will see some familiar faces. This game will mark the first meeting between the two teams involved in one of the biggest trades in NLL history; a trade that saw Dan and Paul Dawson sent to Rochester in return for superstar Paul Rabil, Canadian National Team star Jordan Hall and second-year player Joel White.
The trade acquisitions from Rochester have already made their presence felt in Philadelphia. Transitional player, Hall is among the team's points leaders with 16 points on four goals and 12 assists, while Rabil has 11 points, including a three goal effort in the Wings 16-8 loss to Calgary.
After a 2-0 start, the Wings lost to Buffalo and Calgary on back to back nights before having the week break. The Wings players used the time off to reflect on the two losses and re-focus on getting things back in order for Friday afternoon's game.
"It's not a time you want to have a bye, coming off a weekend where you lose twice but it's good to take some time off and relax and heel up some of the bumps and bruises from a two game weekend," said Wings Assistant Captain Kevin Ross. "Our biggest strength as a team is our athleticism, and we hope to use that to bounce back and prove we are a top team in the East."
The 2012, NLL champion Knighthawks are off to a rocky start, sitting a t 1-3, getting their first win of the season last week against the Seattle Stealth, 7-6. Rochester's seven goals were the least amount scored by a winning team in NLL history.
Philadelphia and Rochester will meet three times this season, including two more times in Rochester on February 23 and April 6 at Blue Cross Arena. In head-to-head match ups, the Knighthawks lead the Wings 26-15, including an 11-10 edge while playing in Philadelphia.
Tickets for the Lacrosse in Education game this Friday and all Wings 2013 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at www. WingsLAX.com.
