Philadelphia Wings Look to Keep Up Fast Start in Weekend Games

January 23, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings take their 2-0 record on the road to Buffalo when they take on the Bandits (2-1) on Saturday, January 26 at 7 p.m. before returning home for a quick turnaround against the Calgary Roughnecks (0-2) at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, January 27 at 4 p.m.

The Wings are looking for their second consecutive road win as they meet Buffalo for the second time in as many weeks. In the first meeting between the two teams, Kevin Crowley scored four goals, while Jordan Hall contributed six assists and Brodie Merrill recovered a game-high 16 loose balls.

Philadelphia's defense has been stingy in its two wins, giving up only 15 goals. Wings goalie Brandon Miller has been the difference maker in both contests with a league leading 7.50 goals against average to go with 96 saves.

"The key for us really has been Brandon Miller. He is off to a great start," said head coach Johnny Mouradian. "We are a "D" first team right now, which is giving us an opportunity to win."

Following the game Saturday night, the Wings will return home to the Wells Fargo Center to take on the Calgary Roughnecks on Sunday. The two teams have not met since March 2011, when the host Wings lost 13-7. Calgary comes into the weekend winless, after losing to Colorado 13-12 in overtime.

The game on Sunday will feature a salute to American Heroes and a post-game jersey auction to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Tickets for all Wings 2013 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
