Philadelphia Wings News Release
Philadelphia Wings veteran goaltender Brandon Miller has been named the National Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week after an outstanding performance stopping 41 of 49 shots by the Boston Blazers at the Wachovia Center last Saturday night, leading his team to a 12-8 victory. Miller and the Wings host the visiting Colorado Mammoth at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, January 23 at 7 p.m.
"It was big for our whole team to get a win early in the season, particularly because we didn't have an exhibition game," said Miller. "Our performance proves what we have been working on in practice and what our coaches have been preaching can work when we put out an honest effort."
Miller started the game strong posting 14 saves on 15 shots in the first quarter to allow the Wings to stay level with Boston early in the contest. Both teams exploded on the offensive end in the second quarter, but the second half belonged to Philadelphia and Miller. He allowed just one goal on 19 shots in the final two quarters, an astounding.947 save percentage.
For only $15 a game you can secure a great lower level Season Ticket for the seven remaining Saturday night games of Wings lacrosse. The Wings 2010 individual game tickets are also on-sale now. Call 215-389-WING (9464) or visit WingsLAX.com for more information.
