Philadelphia Wings Fall to Mammoth 16-15 in OT Thriller
March 25, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings were defeated in overtime by the West Division-leading Colorado Mammoth 16-15 in an action-packed offensive showcase at Wells Fargo Center Sunday.
In the sudden death overtime, rookie Adam Jones lit the lamp for the Mammoth with the game-deciding goal.
Trailing 13-7 early in the second half, it looked as though the Wings may get blown out on their home turf, but the team responded with six unanswered goals to climb back into the game and knot it up at 13-13. From there, the Wings and Mammoth exchanged goals throughout the fourth quarter and ended regulation tied 15-15.
The Mammoth's victory Sunday serves as a bit of payback after the Wings traveled to Colorado Friday night and defeated the Mammoth at the Pepsi Center 13-12.
Power plays proved to be pivotal in the back-and-forth contest as the teams combined to score 14 power play goals and the penalty box was rarely empty.
It was a total team effort by the Wings, with Dan Dawson leading the way with a goal and seven assists. In total, eight Wings scored goals on the night with Mike Hominuck and Drew Westervelt pacing the Wings with four each.
The Wings will return to action against the Minnesota Swarm on Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased online at WingsLAX.com or by phone at 215-389-WING.
