Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul announced today they have signed wide receiver/linebacker Terrell Shaw to a two-year deal. As is club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Shaw will be active when to Soul face the San Jose SaberCats this Saturday night.

Shaw (6-0, 197), who earned ArenaBowl XV MVP honors with the Grand Rapids Rampage in 2001, reunites with Soul head coach Michael Trigg. Shaw was a member of the Rampage from 2001-2003.

A highly touted free-agent this past offseason, Shaw began the season with the Las Vegas Gladiators before being waived yesterday. He played in only six games due to an injury and totaled 29 receptions for 361 yards and five touchdowns.

Shaw had his best season in 2003 when he recorded career highs in receptions (105), yards (1,658) and touchdowns (41). That season he ranked among the League leaders in receptions (5th), receiving yards (2nd) and receiving touchdowns (3rd).

"Terrill was one of the coveted free agents we sought out this past year," said Trigg. "Being able to capture him late this season gives us a jump on our off-season improvement for 2005. Shaw was instrumental in our offensive success while playing in Michigan and will give us a needed boost to compliment Tyronne Jones, Ricky Ross, and Sean Scott going into next season."

Trigg continued "We look forward to getting him in uniform this week against San Jose for sure. He is one of the best wide receivers in the AFL who knows our system in and out."

The Soul hit the road for the final two weeks of the regular season. This Saturday, May 22nd the Soul visit Western Conference leader the San Jose SaberCats. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. The following week (May 30th) the Soul conclude their inaugural season when they travel to Long Island to face the New York Dragons. Kickoff for that contest is set for 4:00 p.m.
