Philadelphia gets struck by Cannons 16-5

Philadelphia, PA (June 29, 2006) - The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor lacrosse league, lost their second game of the season to the Boston Cannons at Villanova Stadium in front of 2,755 fans. Chris Garrity was named Bud Light MVP for his 29 save performance in the game.

The game got off to an early Philadelphia lead with a goal from Mike Springer, off an assist from Ryan Boyle at 13:44. Boston's Matt Poskay and David Jenkins scored to give them a one-goal lead. B.J. Prager scored to tie the game off another Boyle assist at 5:22. Poskay scored his second of the night for the Cannons followed by a goal from Chazz Woodson, making the scored at the end of the first 4-2. Boston then had five unanswered goals in the second before Philadelphia could get on the board. Roy Colsey finally broke the barrier with a goal at 9:12. Chris Mucciolo scored his first of the night for the Cannons, while Brett Bucktooth scored his second of the night, giving Boston an eight-goal lead late in the first half. Matt Striebel put another one in for the Barrage with 17 seconds left. The score at half time was Boston 11, Philadelphia 4.

The second half didn't start out in Philadelphia's favor; Boston came out and had another five-goal run. Colsey scored his second of the night for Philadelphia, hoping to start a comeback for the team in the last two minutes of the third quarter. With 13:00 on the clock in the fourth quarter, the game was suspended for 30 minutes on account of lightning. After an hour wait, the game was officially called; the final score was Philadelphia 5, Boston 16.

Philadelphia hits the road for their second match-up with the New Jersey Pride. The Barrage return home on July 20 to battle the Long Island Lizards at Villanova Stadium.
