
Phantoms with important away win

Hampstead, NH, June 13 -- The NH Phantoms took an important 2:1 win at Charlotte Eagles on Saturday in a USL Second Division game. Almir Barbosa scored both goals for the NH team.
Barbosa opened the score 5 minutes before the half time whistle. Charlotte Eagles came back in the match with an equalizer from Jacob Coggins, but Barbosa secured the three points with a goal in the 62nd minute, coming from an assist from Ryan Ackerman. Barbosa had a wonderful game and managed 6 shots, half of the whole Phantoms' tally.
This was first home defeat for the Eagles. After the loss they dropped down to second place. Wilmington Hammerheads, who beat NH Phantoms 4:0 on Friday night, now occupy the leader's position. James Gledhill, Junior Zarate, Chris Bagley, and Ryan Miller were on target for the Hammerheads against the Phantoms. NH goalkeeper TJ Tomasso saved a penalty from James Gledhill in the second half.
The Phantoms have 9 points from 9 games so far. The team comes back to action this Saturday June 18th when Long Island Rough Riders will pay a visit to New Hampshire. The game kicks off at 7:30 pm at Dr George J. Larkin Field on the Campus of SNHU, Manchester.
