New Hampshire Phantoms in the Driver Seat for Cup Bid

New Hampshire Phantoms News Release


The New Hampshire Phantoms control their own destinay in qualification for the Lamar hund U.S. Open Cup. With a win sunday against the Brooklyn Knights, the NH Phantoms would secure an automatic birth into the tournament that inclused men's teams of all levels in U.S. Soccer. This will be the Phantoms first time in 2 years that they have qualified. The U.S. Open Cup pits teams from the MLS, USL and USASA against each other in a single elimination tournament. Dating back to 1914, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest cup competition in United States soccer and is among the oldest in the world. Open to all affiliated amatuer and professional teams in the United States, the annual U.S. Open Cup is entering its 95th tournament in 2008. This is very similar to the F.A. Cup in Europe.

The New Hampshire Phantoms and the Brooklyn Knights will play SUNDAY, MAY 25, 2008 AT 2:00 P.M. at MANCHESTER MEMORIAL for the right to represent the USL PDL Division in the Open Cup. The Phantoms have slashed ticket prices for Sunday's game to thank their fans for all their support and in hopes of a huge turnout for this extremely important game for the Phantoms. Ticket prices for sunday's game are $5 for Adults and $2 for Seniors and Students.
