Cleveland And Pittsburgh Set To Square Off In Round Two Of New Rivalry

May 23, 2008 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Cleveland City Stars News Release

The Cleveland City Stars and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds will meet for the second time in franchise history after meeting in the season opener, a 2-1 Cleveland victory. After falling behind in the opener, the City Stars mounted a late comeback with goals from Randolph Jerome and Ian Leibbrandt to pull out the victory.

Cleveland enters the match with eight points, which is good for third place in the USL Second Division, with a 2-1-2 record. Pittsburgh enters in 10th place with two points and a 0-4-2 record.

The first 300 fans into Krenzler Stadium will receive free Dick's Sporting Goods water bottles. There will also be an autograph session following the match featuring all your favorite City Stars players and free 2008 City Stars Posters.

Halftime will feature the Crocodinho Juggling Challenge presented by Fred Baker Porsche Audi and the Founding Member recognition ceremony. Saturday's match will again be broadcast on SportsTime Ohio. Saturday's premier showing will air directly following the Cleveland Indians at 10:30 pm with the replay coming Sunday May 25 at 1 pm.

The City Stars look to get back on the winning track while protecting its home unbeaten streak. Cleveland has never lost a home match since joining the USL last season, thanks in part to hostile environment created by the Green Army fan club. The team will again look to its fans to help guide the City Stars to victory.

"Everyone in Cleveland knows that games against Pittsburgh are always something special for the fans and our city," said Cleveland City Stars General Manager Mark Geissbauer. "We are very well prepared and look forward to rewarding our fans and our home town with another victory."
