Youngstown Phantoms News Release

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The Youngstown Phantoms are gearing up for what will be their biggest opportunity to date. The 2010 USHL Fall Classic will be the Phantoms first chance to see every team in the league compete.

For Head Coach Curtis Carr, it will be an opportunity to see what each of his players brings to the roster.

"This is a great chance for our team," said Carr. "The Fall Classic is the perfect occasion to see how our team stacks up against the other teams in the league. It also gives the coaching staff the ability to analyze our roster, to see if we need to make any changes to make our team better going forward."

For the players that are new to the USHL level, this will be the first occasion to see what the true talent level is like.

"It will be a great experience to see everyone playing at their best," said Phantom forward, John Fritsche. "The Classic is the best juniors tournament in the world and everyone is going to play hard to prove the belong on the tier one level. The Classic is still part of the tryout phase for everyone, as we all try to secure a roster spot."

For all of the athletes competing at the Classic, it will be a great opportunity to show collegiate and pro scouts alike what they offer at a higher level of hockey.

"It is a chance for the players to show their skills," said Carr. "They can open a lot of doors, but they can close just as quickly. For our players that have been talking with programs this could be the opportunity to close the deal. We will have our players ready to go, the rest is up to the them."

The Phantoms will play three games during the course of the Fall Classic. They open the weekend tomorrow at 10 a.m. (CDT) against Cedar Rapids. The Phantoms next two games will be available via the B2 Network and USHL.com. The puck drops on Fri. at 4 p.m. (CDT) against the Sioux Falls Stampede and they wrap up the Fall Classic with the defending Clark Cup Champion, Green Bay Gamblers at 1 p.m. (CDT) on Saturday.

Season, partial, and group tickets for the 2010-11 season are available now. Premium packages start as low as $264 for all 30 home games.
