Phantoms Fall 6-0 to Dubuque in Game Two

Dubuque, Iowa - The Youngstown Phantoms fell 6-0 to the Dubuque Fighting Saints Sunday night in Dubuque. The Fighting Saints evened the series at one as the teams head to Youngstown.

The fast paced first period was all Dubuque needed as they scored three goals in the period with a member of the Juraj Pekarcik-Beckett Hendrickson-Erik Påhlsson line being involved in each goal. Pekarcik got the Fighting Saints on the board first at 1:05 after a give-and-go with Hendrickson left him open on the backdoor with an empty right side of the net. Three minutes later, Hendrickson and Pekarcik had a two-on-one break where Hendrickson fired a shot at Phantoms goalie Aiden Wright, who made a great save, however, the puck redirected off a Phantom body in the blue paint past Wright to give the Fighting Saints a 2-0 lead. Lucas St. Louis blasted a one-timer from the right dot to extend the Fighting Saints lead to 3-0 with a power play goal 16:17.

Dubuque added another insurance goal in the middle frame after Jayden Jubenvill picked up the rebound from his own blocked shot and ripped it past Wright from the right wing dot to make the score 4-0 at 4:26. The physicality ramped up in the second period resulting in five penalties between both teams.

The physicality from the second carried over into the third with bodies coming together multiple times in the period. The Fighting Saints added two more goals to their lead amongst the extracurriculars. At 6:52, Jake Sondreal connected on a hard angle shot from the right baseline that Wright could not locate to make the score 5-0. Seamus Powell was final Fighting Saint to get onto the scoreboard at 11:44 when he skated down the slot, received the puck at the edge of the right circle and sent a missile over the shoulder of Colin Winn who came in, in relief of Wright after the fifth goal.

Coming off last night's shutout, Wright stopped 19 of 24 shots on the night, with Winn stopping 4 of 5. Kevin Reidler logged a shutout for Dubuque, stopping all 19 of the Phantoms' shots.

The Phantoms will be back in action Tuesday night for Game Three of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at the Covelli Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 pm Eastern.
