Phantoms fall 4-1 to Norfolk in Game Five of East Division Semifinals

(NORFOLK, Va.) - Craig Anderson made 25 saves and Pavel Vorobiev scored a pair of third-period goals as the Norfolk Admirals stayed alive in the East Division Semifinals with a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phantoms in Game Five.
The Phantoms still lead the best-of-seven series, three games to two, with Game Six set for Sunday at 7:05 p.m. in Philadelphia.
Jeff Carter tallied the lone goal and Antero Niittymaki stopped 41-of-45 shots for Philadelphia, which dropped two of three games in Norfolk after capturing the first two match-ups of the series at home.
Facing an end to their season, the Admirals jumped on Philadelphia with a whopping 25 shots during the first period. With its 19th shot, Norfolk took a 1-0 lead at the 10:27 mark when Richard Seeley's long wrister made its way through traffic and past Niittymaki.
James Wisniewski doubled the lead at 14:36 with a floater that fooled Niittymaki, but Philadelphia took advantage of a Brent Seabrook holding minor to get on the board just over a minute later.
Carter netted his fourth goal of the postseason on the play, as he took a feed from Ryan Ready and worked his way through the Admirals defense and buried a shot past Anderson with 4:20 to go in the period.
Norfolk's 25 shots in the period are a new playoff record by a Phantoms opponent, breaking the previous mark of 23 set by Albany in 1998 and matched by Hershey in 2000. The 33 combined shots in the period are also a new Philadelphia playoff record.
The second period was scoreless, despite each team having a 5-on-3 power play, before Vorobiev gave Norfolk a 4-1 lead with a pair of early goals in the third.
The right wing made it a two-goal game just 80 seconds into the frame when he took a feed from Jason Morgan and Seabrook and blasted the puck into the top right corner of the net from the near circle.
Vorobiev struck again at the 5:05 mark, sliding the puck past Niittymaki off a pass from Morgan.
Philadelphia killed all eight Norfolk power plays and is now 34-for-36 on the kill this series.
