Petruic Returns to Quad Cities

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Jeff Petruic. He finished 2005-06 in a Mallards uniform after being acquired from the Muskegon Fury in early March.

Petruic appeared in a total of 60 United Hockey League games last season and scored 39 points (20 goals and 19 assists). During his 18-game stint with the Mallards, he netted 14 points (seven goals and seven assists). Petruic was injured prior to the Mallards playoff series with Danbury and did not appear in the post-season.

The highly skilled forward reached the 700-point plateau last April. In 684 career games, Petruic has 701 points (385 goals and 316 assists). He has appeared in 196 UHL games including stints with Asheville, Missouri, Muskegon and Quad City. He has 221 career UHL points on 120 goals and 101 assists.

Petruic led the United Hockey League in scoring (114 points) in 2001-02 as a member of the Asheville Smoke. Petruic also led the league in goal scoring (57) in 2001-02 and added 57 assists. He spent his second UHL season with the Missouri River Otters in 2003-04. Petruic led the Otters in scoring (68 points) and goals (43).

"It's exciting to have Jeff back," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "He is a veteran player with great offensive skill. Most importantly, he has a real hunger to win a championship."

"Jeff has a great combination of work ethic and skill," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "He made a real impact on our team late last year. I'm looking forward to having him on the ice with us over the course of a full season."

The Mallards are holding a car seat safety check this Saturday at Christy Cox Allstate Agency. Fans are invited to visit the agency at 5159 Utica Ridge Road in Davenport to have their child seats installed in their car. Players and mascots will be in attendance. The fun starts at 1 p.m. and lasts until 3 p.m.
