Flint Generals News Release
FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League announce the addition of three players to the training camp roster. Forward Jan Jas and defenseman Dan Pszenyczny have signed contracts for the 2006-07 season. Forward Andy Walbert will attend the Generals camp as an invitee.
Jas, a 28 year old from Presov, Slovakia, is entering his ninth season of professional hockey and his first with the Generals. Last season he was with the Roanoke Valley Vipers of the UHL and had 53 points on 21 goals and 32 assists in 65 games. Jas has played most of his career in the Central Hockey League and was a member of the 2000 Indianapolis Ice that won the CHL Championship.
Pszenyczny will be returning to Flint for the second time in his career. The 25 year old native of Sterling Heights, MI, began his professional career with the Generals during the 2003-04 season. He had two points in 16 games with the Generals. Last season he played for the Pee Dee Cyclones of the SPHL and the Quad City Mallards of the UHL. Pszyenyczny had 30 points in 53 games with both teams last season.
Walbert, a native of Ford City, PA, has been invited to the Generals training camp looking to begin his professional career after a four year college career at American International College. Walbert played 119 games in college and had 68 points. His best season was 2003-04 when he had 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points in 34 games.
"We are very excited about all three of these players coming to Flint," said General Manager Al Sims. "Jas is a great two way player that had his best season offensively last year and he can play all three forward positions. Pszenyczny has shown some good offensive ability as a defenseman. He's a good skater with good size. And Walbert is another player with good size and we've been told he is a good two-way player and a good character guy."
The Generals open their 2006-07 season against the Port Huron Flags on Friday, October 13, at Perani Arena. Season tickets are on sale now through TicketMaster or by calling the Perani Arena & Event Center at (810) 744-0580.
