Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards President and General Manager Howard Cornfield today announced that defenseman Colin Peters has been recalled to the American League's Portland Pirates. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound defenseman recorded 19 penalty minutes and no points in eight games with the Mallards.

Peters began the season with the American League's Manchester Monarchs before being assigned to Quad City on October 21st. He played one game on Manchester's blueline and was held scoreless.

Peters spent four seasons at St. Cloud State University. Peters developed a reputation for his dependable stay-at-home play with the Huskies. He appeared in 143 college games scoring 21 points on six goals and 15 assists.

Peters joins former Mallards Jason Ulmer and Louis Robitaille on the Pirates roster. The Mallards have been affiliated with Portland and their parent club, the Washington Capitals, since 1997.

"While other teams just talk about getting their players call up opportunities, we fulfill our promises," said Cornfield. "One of the benefits of playing for the Mallards is the opportunity to play for teams like Portland, Hershey, the Chicago Wolves, Manitoba and Houston."

The Mallards are at home for a pair of games this weekend. On Friday at 7:00 p.m., the Mallards host the Port Huron Beacons for the first time this season. On Saturday, legendary Chicago Blackhawks organist Frank Pellico will be on hand for Old-Time Hockey Night. For one night only, there will be no piped in rock-and-roll music. Instead, Pellico's organ music will entertain fans during stoppages. It's a throwback to the old days of hockey! Join the Mallards as they take on the Kansas City Outlaws for Old-Time Hockey Night. Faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m. After the game, Season Ticket Holders are invited down to the ice to skate with the Mallards.

Season ticket plans are still available via the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825. Individual tickets for all games including this weekend's contests and Kerry Toporowski's Jersey Retirement on November 27th are available now via Ticketmaster at (563) 326-1111 or at The MARK box office.
