Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Quakes' catcher Mike Pericht had a night to remember on Thursday, as he swatted both the game-tying and game-winning homers, as the Quakes avoided a three-game sweep with a 4-3 walk-off win over Inland Empire.

Trailing 3-2 in the seventh, Pericht launched a rocket way over the wall in left-center field off of Inland Empire reliever Tyler Kehrer, tying the game at 3-3.

In the bottom of the ninth, Pericht struck again, lining a Kevin Nabors (0-1) pitch just over the fence in left field for his second long-ball of the game and of the year, helping the Quakes end a two-game skid.

Quakes' starter JonMichael Redding, making a spot-start for Chris Reed, who was a late scratch due to a sore left shoulder, gave up three runs in four innings of work. RBI hits from Jeremy Cruz and Jett Bandy in the second put the 66ers up 2-0. In the third, Travis Witherspoon tripled and then scored on Andrew Heid's double, making it a 3-0 advantage.

The Quakes got a pair in the bottom of the third to make it a one-run game. 66er' starter Nick Maronde gave up a two-out bunt single to Joc Pederson, then allowed a run-scoring double to Brian Cavazos-Galvez, as the Quakes got on the board at 3-1. Cavazos-Galvez would then score on a misplayed fly ball by right fielder Randall Grichuk, as C.J. Retherford's drive to right field went in and out of Grichuk's glove, making it 3-2.

Steve Smith and Scott McGough (2-0) did their job, combining to work five scoreless innings, while allowing just three hits out of the Quakes' bullpen.

Rancho (11-17) will take on Lake Elsinore on Friday, as they host a weekend series against the Storm. Friday night's pitching match-up will see Garrett Gould (0-3) throw for the Quakes, while the Storm will counter with Burch Smith (2-2). Game time on Friday is 7:05pm.

Friday is another Family RV $1 Family Feast Night, as fans can enjoy hot dogs, Pepsi products and ice cream sandwiches for just one dollar throughout the night. Tickets are available at 909-481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter...Go Quakes!
