One positive note to build on for next season for Peoria has been the emergence of Phil Taylor Jr. Despite only playing in 10 games, Taylor is among the league leaders in receptions (42), receiving yards (412), and all-purpose yardage (672). With stability at quarterback, Taylor could be one of the most explosive wide receivers in the UIF next season. With a win both this week and next week or a win and a Rock River loss, Lexington will clinch at least the #2 seed in the UIF playoffs. Quarterback Eddie Eviston has thrown 47 touchdowns this season compared to only 10 interceptions. Eviston leads the highest scoring offense in the league as Lexington is scoring 49.7 points per game, which is five points per game more than any other team. The Horsemen defense leads the UIF in takeaways with 33 and are on pace to break the UIF record for most takeaways in a season. The current record is held by Fort Wayne, who recorded 35 takeaways last season. William Mulder has already tied the UIF record for most interceptions in a season with his league-leading total of 10.
