Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - In their final game of the exhibition schedule, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins scored a 2-1 victory over the Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

The game was tied at one in the third frame when Philip Samuelsson took a drop pass from Zach Sill in the high slot, cut toward the far post and slipped the puck shot under the pad of goaltender Riley Gill.

Eric Hartzell, in net for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, made sure Samuelsson's marker stood as the game-winner as he made a flurry of saves in the final seconds of regulation. The rookie netminder finished with 20 saves on 21 shots for his second win of the preseason.

The Penguins went up, 1-0, midway through the first period with the help of some extended 5-on-3 power play time. Scott Harrington sent a pass to the bottom of the left circle that Brian Gibbons one-touched across the crease for Nick Drazenovic to bang past starting Hershey goalie Brandon Anderson.

Ryan Stoa would even the contest 4:18 into the second, getting a piece Julien Brouilllete's wrist from the blue line and tipping it past the leg pad of Hartzell.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton went 1-for-5 on the power play and was perfect over four chances on the power play.

Gill suffered the loss for Hershey, despite making 13-of-14 saves over the second of the match. Anderson turned aside 6-of-7 for the Bears.
