Canucks Trade for Dalpe & Welsh

Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have acquired right wing Zac Dalpe and center Jeremy Welsh from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Kellan Tochkin and the fourth round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Dalpe, 23, split the 2012-13 season between the Hurricanes and Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. With the Checkers, the 6'1", 195-pound right winger posted 42 points (21-21-42) in 54 games played. He also recorded three points (1-2-3) ten games with NHL's Hurricanes. The Paris, Ontario native has played in 41 NHL games, registering 10 career points (5-5-10).

The Carolina Hurricanes selected Dalpe 45th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Welsh, 25, played in 69, recording 26 points (14-12-26) with the Charlotte Checkers in 2012-13. He also appeared in five games, collecting one assist, with the Hurricanes last season. The 6'3", 210-pound Bayfield, Ontario native has played in six career NHL games.
