Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

Roberto Pena went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored Tuesday night FRISCO, TX - With two away in the ninth inning Tuesday night, Nick Tanielu sent a single through the left side, scoring Roberto Pena for the decisive run in Corpus Christi's 6-5 triumph over the RoughRiders at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The Hooks (34-30, 81-53), who have won 11 of their last 15 games, notched 12 hits on the night, including six doubles.

Bobby Boyd opened the game with a triple over the head of Eduard Pinto in right. Boyd later scored via a groundout of the bat of Astros outfielder Preston Tucker.

Frisco (22-41, 60-72) responded with a run in the home half and two more in the second. Carson Blair accounted for the key hit against Cy Sneed, a two-run double down the left-field line.

Sneed settled in, blanking the RoughRiders over his final four innings of work. He surrendered four singles and struck out six in this span.

Meanwhile, the Hooks took the lead opposite rehabbing Ranger Colby Lewis. Back-to-back doubles by Pena and Boyd netted a run for Corpus Christi in the third. The Hooks scored three times in the fourth, knocking Lewis out of the game. Consecutive singled by Ramon Laureano and James Ramsay began the inning. James Ramsay and Pena followed with two-baggers to left field for a 5-3 Corpus Christi edge.

Michael Freeman faced three batters in the seventh but failed to record an out. A hit batsman and bunt single began the inning. Andy Ibanez made it a one-run game with a double to right field. Eric Peterson surrendered a sac fly but stranded the go-ahead run and third base.

Peterson (5-3) penned three scoreless innings to record the victory.

Ariel Jurado, who struck out four of the first six he faced, permitted just two singles from the fifth thru the eighth. Jurado (1-3) induced a pop up to begin the ninth before Pena snuck a smash inside the bag at third and into the left-field corner. Prior to his game-winning hit, Tanielu was down 1-2 before working the count full.
