Tucker will be involved with the team beginning with spring training on Saturday, April 28. He will spend time in a Pelicans uniform during the teams home games at Pelican Park .
"Scooter brings a wealth of knowledge along with major league experience for our younger players to benefit from," said Pelicans manager Mac Seibert. "He will be a good addition to the staff."
The Cantonment resident has more than nine years playing professional baseball, including three years in the major leagues with the Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians. He was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 1988 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants. In 1992, Tucker first broke into the big leagues with the Astros. Tucker played under now Los Angeles Dodger manager Grady Little in 1995 with the triple-A Richmond Braves.
With the addition of Tucker to the field staff, now three of the four coaches are from the Pensacola area. Mac Seibert resides in Cantonment and Pete Della Ratta lives in Gulf Breeze.
