Pensacola Pelicans News Release

The Pensacola Pelicans announced today that they looked within their own organization to name the next field manager in Talmadge "T" Nunnari. The current Pelicans general manager, Nunnari, has led the front office operations since the middle of the 2006 season and will now make the transition to the field.

"I have seen T work with the players before and know he is passionate about coaching," commented Pelicans owner Quint Studer. "He's got an advantage as he knows the organization, the league, and the talent needed to win. He's played baseball at the highest level and knows what it takes to succeed."

In his first year with the Pelicans in 2002, Nunnari helped the team to their first ever league championship. He moved to the front office in 2003 in sales and split time on the field as a hitting coach under manager Bernie Carbo. In the middle of the 2006 season, Nunnari made the transition to general manager. Under his leadership, the organization has set franchise attendance and sales records every year.

"I'm looking forward to this position and next chapter in my career," said Nunnari. "I missed being on the field, player development, and competing."

Nunnari has 11 years under his belt in professional baseball including playing, coaching, and administration. This will be his first managerial position. The Montreal Expos selected and signed Nunnari in the 1997 MLB draft. He moved up the affiliated ranks and made his major league debut in 2000, playing in 18 games after being called up in mid-season.

"T will also continue the professionalism of our players both on and off the field as Mac Seibert did," added Studer.
