
Pelicans Training Academy Pels Academy Begins Baseball Development Program

The Pelicans Training Academy announces today they are taking registration for the Northwest Florida Baseball Development Program. Interested athletes can call the Pelicans Training Academy office 332-6274 to register and for more information.
The 18-session program begins Feb. 16 and runs to April 21. Practices will be every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pelicans Training Academy located at 4920 North Davis Highway in Pensacola.
Former Pelican Pete Della Ratta will head up the coaching staff. The Gulf Breeze, FL resident played at the University of South Alabama before playing several years in the Oakland Athletics, New York Mets, and Florida Marlins organizations. Della Ratta returned to Pensacola, helping win the league championship with the Pelicans in 2002.
All participants will receive instruction on hitting, pitching, fielding, conditioning, base running, and mental techniques and strategies. Each practice and player will be video taped for analysis and critique.
The Pelicans Training Academy is a 12,000 square foot, fully enclosed air-conditioned training facility complete with three pitching machines, three full size batting cages, and four instructional batting cages. The facility offers private and group lessons, birthday parties, and various camps and clinics throughout the year.
