
Pelicans Take 2-1 Lead

Pensacola Pelicans News Release
Pensacola used two homeruns, two huge homeruns to beat the Shreveport Sports Thursday night 8-6 and take the lead 2-1 in the CBL East Division Championship Series.
For six innings, the score was tied and teetered back and forth. In the 7th, Shreveport took the lead 6-3 thanks to a 2-run homerun by Juan Rocha. It looked as if Pensacola was done for the night.
Then with two out in the 8th inning, George Branch hit am opposite field 3-run homerun to tie the game at 6, his first of the post season.
In the 9th, 2004 CBL Player of the Year, Rafael Alvarez came to plate with one runner on and proved why he was selected as the Player of the Year. He hit a 2-run walk off homerun to end the game, winning 8-6.
The Pelicans are now one win away from winning the CBL East Division Championship!!
