Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey and outfielder Ryan Raburn have both been signed by the Chicago White Sox and assigned to the Charlotte Knights roster today. In one other roster move effective today, outfielder Rymer Liriano has been placed on the team's disabled list. Charlotte's roster now consists of 25 active players and six players on the disabled list.

Pelfrey, 33, was originally drafted in the first round of the 2005 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. The 6'7" righty was recently released by the Detroit Tigers (March 30) after spending the 2016 campaign with the team. Last season, he compiled a 4-10 record with a 5.07 ERA in 24 games (22 starts). Over the course of his 11-year major league career, Pelfrey owns a 65-91 record with one save and a 4.57 ERA in 241 games (235 starts). He won a career-best 15 games in 2010 while pitching for the Mets.

Raburn, 35, was originally drafted by the Tigers in the fifth round of the 2001 June Amateur Draft and spent seven seasons with the Tigers (2004-2012). He then spent three seasons with the Cleveland Indians (2013-2015) and the 2016 campaign with the Colorado Rockies. Last season he hit .220 with nine home runs and 30 RBIs. A native of Tampa, FL, Raburn was recently released by the Cincinnati Reds (March 27). Over the course of his 11-year major league career, Raburn has topped the double-digit plateau in four seasons, including a 16-home run outburst in 2009 and 2013.

Liriano, 25, has appeared in both games this season with the Knights and is hitting .273 (3-for-11) with one RBI. Liriano was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from the Milwaukee Brewers on October 28, 2016. He missed the entire 2016 season due to multiple facial fractures he suffered after being hit in the face by a pitch in a Brewers spring training game on March 20, 2016.
