PEI Rocket Fan's Choice Awards – Voting Now Open

The PEI Rocket have announced that voting is now open for the 2009 edition of the Fan's Choice Awards. Fans that would like to vote can now visit the Rocket website and click on the link to make their selections. Voting will remain open until Monday March 9th at 12:00 PM.

The PEI Rocket Fan's Choice Awards dinner will be held on Sunday, March 15th at the Charlottetown Civic Centre Trade Centre and will immediately follow the final game of the regular season against the Saint John Seadogs.

The list of Awards that will be presented include:

Source For Sports - Rookie of the Year (Selected by Fans)

Rodd Hotels & Resorts - Offensive Player of the Year (Selected by Fans)

Arsenault Best Cameron Ellis - Defensive Player of the Year (Selected by Fans)

Confederation Bridge - Fan Favorite (Selected by Fans)

Murphy's Pharmacies - Most Dedicated Player (Selected by Fans)

Aliant - Student of the Year (Chosen by the Academic Consultants)

Mayor's Choice - Community Involvement Award - Chosen by the City of Charlottetown

Mark's Work Wearhouse - Hardest Working Award (Based on Plus/Minus Stats)

Mooselight - Player of the Year Award - Chosen by Three Star Selection

"The night is a chance for fans to get up close and personal with the players as the organization pays tribute to the 2008-2009 award winners. This event also gives our fans the opportunity to wish the players well as they begin the playoffs. We are very excited to have our fans as the decision makers in many of the awards that will be handed out", said President Serge Savard, Jr.

This year's Fan's Choice Awards will feature a fantastic menu designed by Award winning Chef, Jeff McCourt of the CDPEC. The banquet will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet with Chef's Award-winning seafood chowder, carvery-roast hip of Island beef, BBQ ribs, roast chicken and steamed Island blue mussels, an assortment of cold salads, PEI potatoes (mashed and roasted), steamed vegetables, gourmet homemade dessert buffet including a delectable chocolate fountain, and of course, coffee and tea.

During the event, there will be a silent auction and live auction that takes place featuring memorabilia from the Rocket, NHL players and teams, along with packages from a variety of local establishments.

Tickets are on sale now for $45.00 per person or $400.00 for a corporate table of ten people. Proceeds from the evening will support the PEI Rocket Player's Education Fund which provides scholarships and bursaries to players to continue their education.
