(Albany, GA) The South Georgia Peanuts released their 2008 regular season schedule today.

The Peanuts are one of four teams playing in the realigned, second year South Coast League. Each team will complete an 84-game schedule.

South Georgia opens its 2007 title defense when they travel to archrival Macon to open the season on Thursday, May 15, the first of a seven game road trip. The Peanuts then return for their home debut against the Music on Thursday, May 22.

This season, the Peanuts will entertain the home crowd 41 times: four games on Mondays, five games on Tuesdays, five games on Wednesdays, six games on Thursdays, seven games on Fridays, seven games on Saturdays, and seven games on Sundays.

South Georgia will play their archrival from Macon and the two teams from South Carolina 28 times apiece, with the Anderson Joes and Aiken Foxhounds visiting 14 times each and the Macon Music visiting Paul Eames Stadium 13 times.

The Peanuts close out the home portion of their schedule with a seven game home stand starting July 31. They conclude the regular season on the road on August 12, in Aiken, South Carolina.

In 2007, the Peanuts finished as first half champs and overall league champions. While their team will feature many new faces, they will look to bring home a second consecutive title in 2008.

The promotional schedule for all South Georgia Peanuts home games will be released in the coming weeks.
