Patton to Make Rehab Start Tonight

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce today that David Patton will join the team's roster while recovering from a strained right groin. Patton will be starting tonight for the Smokies against the Mississippi Braves.

Patton has appeared in 17 games for the Chicago Cubs this season, all in a relief role. The Washington native is 3-1 on the year with a 5.63 ERA. Patton has pitched 24 innings allowing 25 hits and 16 runs, walking 15 and striking out 20.

The 25-year-old joined the Cubs after being selected in 2008 Rule-5 Draft. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies, where he spent the 2008 season with the organization's Class A Modesto Nuts. In his final season with Modesto, Patton went 4-5 with a 3.54 ERA in 73.2 innings pitched.
