
Patterson Named CHL's Third Star for December

GLENDALE, Ariz. (League Release) - Missouri Mavericks forward Sebastien Thinel, Allen Americans forward Darryl Bootland and Denver Cutthroats goaltender Kent Patterson have been named the 'Oakley Three Stars' for the month of December 2012.
Players are awarded five points for being a game's first star, three points for being named the second star and a single point for being named the third star of the game. Keep up with the season-long standings and quest to be the Oakley Three Star Player of the Year at www.centralhockeyleague.com.
The season-long overall race has tightened up with Thinel and Bootland tied for first place with 32 points and a trio of players including Allen's Scotty Howes, Denver's Kieran Millan and Fort Worth's Phil Fox all tied for third place with 29 points.
First Star - Sebastien Thinel, F, Missouri Mavericks Thinel put up unbelievable numbers in December scoring points in 13 of his team's 15 games totaling nine goals and an astonishing 20 assists. His 29 points were double-digits more than any other player in December. He finished with three first star honors, one second star and one third star recognition. On the season, the St. Jerome, Quebec native leads the league with 50 points (15-35=50).
Second Star - Darryl Bootland, F, Allen Americans The veteran forward averaged a point-a-game in December with eight goals and four assists in 12 games played. His star recognition came from being clutch for the Americans with three game-winning goals in the month including one in the third period in a one-goal win over Wichita and one in a shootout win over Arizona. He finished with three first star honors and one second star honor. On the season, the New Smyrna Beach, Florida native has 15 goals and 19 assists.
Third Star - Kent Patterson, G, Denver Cutthroats The rookie went 6-1-1 in December with a sparkling 1.85 goals against average and a .943 save percentage and one shutout. The Plymouth, Minnesota native was named the first star of the game three times and the second star once. On the season, Patterson is 10-5-1 with a 2.80 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
Millan received first star honors for the month of November earlier this season. The Cutthroats visit the Quad City Mallards on Friday and the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday. Both games begin at 6:05 PM MST.
