Pats Begin Four Game Homestand with RE/MAX WHL Talk Today Game

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats (20-26-2-1) begin a four game homestand against Red Deer Rebels (35-15-2-1) on Friday at 7:00 p.m., inside the Brandt Centre.

The Pats are coming off a 7-6 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday, snapping the clubs three game skid, scoring a season high tying seven goals for the fourth time this season.

Tanner Howe (2G-1A) and Braxton Whitehead (1G-2A) led the way with three point contests, while Stanislav Svozil scored twice for his second two goal game of the season. Easton Armstrong also tallied 1G-1A, and Connor Bedard and Neithan Salame each added two helpers. The final shots were 46-40 for the Wheat Kings, with the Pats going 2-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Pats are now 4-4-1 over their last nine games, and finish their four game road swing 1-2-1, picking up three of a possible eight points.

For the Red Deer Rebels, they are coming off a 5-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday, extending their winning-streak to a season high six games, where they've outscored their opponent 33-to-13 during that time. They defeated Medicine Hat 11-1 on Tuesday, and have outscored their opponent 16-to-2 over their last two contests. The Rebels have the fourth most wins in one-goal games (11-2-2-1).

Arshdeep Bains leads the WHL scoring race with 80 points on the season. Bains also leads all players with 50 assists. He recorded a season-high five points (3G, 2A) versus the Saskatoon Blades on Feb. 5 and has 15 points in his last six games. Ben King leads the WHL with 43 goals, including a league leading 20 power play tallies and 12 game winners. His 78 points has him third overall in the WHL scoring race. King has 14 points in his last six games.

Braxton Whitehead became the eighth player to record at least three points in a contest (1G-2A, Wed. at BDN) this season, recording a career high three points. He joins Connor Bedard, Cole Carrier, Cole Dubinsky, Ryker Evans, Tanner Howe, Logan Nijhoff and Borya Valis to tally more than three points in a game this season.

The Pats are four points back of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference standings, as there is a three way tie for seventh between Calgary, Swift Current and Lethbridge.

BY THE NUMBERS

52: Points (13G-39A) this season for Ryker Evans is 3rd amongst WHL D while 4th in PTS/GP at 1.06...he is the only Pat' to have played in all 49 games this season...he must play the remaining 19 games to reach 200 career...he has points in nine of his last 13 games (7G-8A-15PTS).

51: Points (23G-27A) over Connor Bedard's last 23 games since Nov. 28, with points in 22 of those 23 contests...he had 15 points in 20 games prior and is currently 1st in the WHL in shots (235), averaging 5.4 shots per game...he has recorded a point in 13 straight games (13G-15A-28PTS).
