Patroons Select High-quality, High-caliber, Local Stars in 2007 USBL Draft

Albany, NY - April 10, 2007 - The Albany Patroons have selected high-quality, high-caliber, local stars in the 2007 USBL Draft. At the conclusion of the four round draft, Albany came away with their top picks; Michael Haddix, Jamar Wilson, Rashaun Freeman, and Jared Jordan.

The Patroons number one draft pick, Michael Haddix, is a 6'6" F from Siena College. Haddix lead the Saints in scoring this season, averaging 16.3 ppg and 7.5 rpg. Honors include First Team All-MAAC, MAAC All-Tournament Team and MAAC All-Academic Team in 2006-07. Haddix graduated with 1,594 career points (6th in school history) and 807 rebounds (3rd in school history).

Jamar Wilson, a 6'1" G from the University of Albany, was the Patroons second pick of the night. Honors include 2006 America East Conference Player of the Year, unanimous First-team All-Conference Selection, and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American. Wilson was the first player in school history to combine for more than 1,400 points & 300 assists in a career.

The Albany Patroons third pick, formerly a local (Schenectady) high school basketball star, is Rashaun Freeman, a 6'9" C/F from U Mass. Honors include NABC All-District First-Team Selection three years in a row, and Atlantic 10 First Team for three years in a row. Freeman graduated finishing third in both career rebounds (998) and career field goals (685), and finishing fourth in both career points at Umass (1,744) and career field goal percentage (55.9).

Jared Jordan, the Patroons fourth and final draft pick, is a 6'2" G from Marist College. Honors include being named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year by Street & Smith, Athlon, CBS Sportsline, The Sporting News & Lindy's, being named Almost All-American by Lindy's, and being tabbed as one of the top 20 point guards in the nation by Lindy's and The Sporting news.

The USBL's Albany Patroons first official practice will be held by new Head Coach, Patrick O'Herron, at the Washington Avenue Armory at 10 AM Wednesday morning, in preparation for their first game of the season, Friday, April 13th at 7:35 PM against New Jersey at the Washington Avenue Armory.
