Albany Patroons News Release

The Albany Patroons, who during the third quarter were trailing by as many as 16 points to the East Kentucky Miners, and who gave up the first three quarterpoints to their opponent, clawed their way back in the fourth quarter, and when Chad Timberlake hit a bank-shot jumper from the top of the key, it gave the Patroons a 109-108 [4-3] victory over the Miners, providing the Patroons with their fifth straight win and a more secure hold on second place in the CBA's American Conference.

Nat Burton led the Patroons with 26 points, while Timberlake and Rashaad Powell each had 23 on the night. Jason "J-Bird" Williams had 15 points, as well as nine rebounds and six assists. Tony Bruin, who played high school ball in the Capital District, got his first start of the season and scored his first points of his pro career.

The Miners were led in scoring by Jason McLeish, with 26. James "Boo" Jackson finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Albany was able to capitalize on turnovers, garnering 13 steals to the Miners' 3, and scoring 25 points off turnovers, to the Miners' 17. East Kentucky turned the ball over 21 times, while the Patroons only gave up the ball 12 times.

The Patroons will face the Miners in a rematch January 31, and then will return to the Armory on February 2 for a match against the Atlanta Krunk, with tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
